THYME.....ENGLISH
Starting at: $4.50
Thyme,
Thymus spp.,
has aromatic, culinary, medicinal, and ornamental. Various colored blooms in summer. Thyme is native to the western Mediterranean and was brought to the New World by the first European settlers. It is said to be one of the most useful and versatile of the culinary herbs. Thyme is a small, many-branched perennial with tiny aromatic leaves. There are upright and creeping varieties. Some creeping varieties will tolerate light foot traffic. Thyme combines well with most foods. Upright varieties are more often used for culinary purposes than creeping varieties. Thyme requires relatively little care once planted. Plant it in light, dry, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Amending the soil with granite sand will help keep it light and well drained.
