Bigleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea macrophylla, need to be grown in moist well-drained fertile humus-rich soil with afternoon shade in summer. Shelter from cold and drying winds. Use as specimen or in groupings. Acidic soil with pH of less than 5.5 produces blue flowers; pH greater than 5.5 produces pink flowers. White flowers are not pH affected.

Big Daddy.....Grows 4'-5' tall and 6' wide. Zone 6-9. Wow! These blue or pink mophead flowers are huge! Blooms on both new and old wood for repeat blooms all season.


Dooley PP63534 .......Grows 3-5’. Zone 5-9. Extremely large dense blue or pink mop-head flowers. Will bloom despite late frosts, because it blooms on axillary flower buds. A Michael Dirr Selection. Found in the “Great Vince Dooley’s Garden.”  




Lady in Red ..... Grows 3-5’. Zone 5-8. Distinctive stems and veins, along with reddish fall foliage. Lace-cap flowers that open pink and turn a lush burgundy rose as they mature.
