Catnip, Nepeta cataria Aromatic and medicinal. Also used as a tea plant. White flowers in summer and fall. Grows 24”. Catnip is a gray-green perennial with soft white fuzzy leaves and stems. It is part of the mint family. While it has historically been used in tea as a mild sedative, today its most common use is for cat toys. It is said to be a feline aphrodisiac that no cat can resist. As a tea, combine with chamomile for a “restful sleep”. Catnip prefers an average, sandy well-drained soil. It grows in sun to partial shade, but will be most fragrant in good sunlight.
