Bay, Laurus nobilis, has aromatic, culinary, medicinal, and repellent uses. Grows 25’. Bay is a small shrubby evergreen with wonderful aromatic leaves. Bay is native to the Mediterranean region. Cooks throughout the world use bay to flavor stews, soups, stocks and marinades and meat and fish dishes. It is easy to grow in containers and can be taken inside during the winter. In the Athens area has proven to be hardy in the garden if planted in a sheltered location. It prefers a moderately rich soil in sun to partial shade.
